NECO To ''Re-Test' Primary School Pupils

The National Examinations Council, NECO, has announced that it would make Nigerian primary school students to write another test after they pass the just concluded Common Entrance Examination so as to select only the best for admission into Federal Government Colleges

The Supervising Minister of Education, Mr Nyesom Wike made the pronouncement on Saturday through a representative, Daniel Uwaezuoke, during a monitoring exercise of the just ended Common Entrance examination in some schools in Abuja.

Mr. Uwaezuoke said the move was in conformity to government’s promise to ensure that 60 per cent of admissions into Federal Government Colleges were on merits.
It was also revealed that 40 per cent of the students will be allocated on the basis of quota system.

He said the increase in enrollment this year has shown that the examination body was getting to a stage of perfection in conducting examinations.
