It all began in January, 2013, after Channels TV documentary triggered an avalanche of criticism towards the Ikeja Police College in Lagos. The living conditions for future law and order defenders shocked and appalled the whole country.

President Jonathan cancelled his meeting with the members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Côte d'Ivoire to pay a visit to the institution... and immediately ordered a complete renovation.
