The 24-year-old singer's probation had been revoked after he was charged with a pair of misdemeanors in connection with a hit-and-run on May 21. Those charges were dismissed on Thursday after the judge presiding over the case said that a "civil compromise" had been reached, despite objections by the deputy City Attorney.
But while the City Attorney had jurisdiction over the hit-and-run case, the L.A. District Attorney has jurisdiction over Brown's probation revocation.
The L.A. District Attorney argued in court on Friday that Brown still violated probation stemming from his assault case by allegedly lying about completing his community service.
The D.A. filed documents earlier this year claiming Brown submitted false community service records.
In addition to having his probation reinstated, the "Fine China" singer was ordered by the judge to complete 1,000 additional hours of community service, which must be supervised by L.A. County officials (the first time around Chris was allowed to complete his hours in Virginia).
He can reportedly choose between highway cleanup, beach cleanup, probation alternative work services, or graffiti removal (ironic, no?).
Brown pleaded guilty in June 2009 to assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury. He beat then-girlfriend Rihanna in a rented Lamborghini after they attended a pre-Grammy Awards party together on February 8, 2009.
Brown was sentenced to five years probation, a yearlong domestic violence program (which he completed), and 180 days of community labor (which he basically has to redo now).
The Grammy winner's probation will finally end in August 2014 … if he doesn't mess up again.
