American Star, Brandy Performs For Empty Seats In South Africa

American star in South Africa at the weekend when she performed for empty seats at the 90,000-capacity FNB Stadium in Soweto, South Africa. She was meant to be a surprise artiste for the day-long arts and sports event held in Johannesburg, South Africa, but spectators at the stadium left before she started her performance because they weren't aware she was around to perform.

Shortly after some fans became aware that she was performing, they took to twitter to say, "Brandy is going to perform for herself and Mbaks (SA Sport Minister) only,"

Even the country's national television, SABC, closed its live transmission of the event before Brandy mounted the stage to perform for the seats.

One of South Africa's artistes, Kabomo tweeted, "Brandy performed to an empty stadium. With the stadium lights on. People didn't know there was a concert after the games. No one knew Brandy was around. Maybe a 40 people audience ... She sulked after two songs and walked off."

As we gathered, there were interludes of music between the games at the stadium with performances from Salif Keita, D'Banj, David Jenkins and Elvis Blue.

The Nelson Mandela Sport and Culture Day was held last Saturday, which attracted thousands of guests at the stadium. A football match was played between South African football legends and Italian masters. Other games were played too on that day.

Brandy was well received when she visited Nigeria in 2012.
