Wednesday, January 9, 2012 marked the beginning of a 3-day funeral activity to celebrate the life of veteran Nollywood actor Enebeli Elebuwa.
The procession began with a condolence walk led by the President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima from Marsha axis all the way to the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The artiste and candle night anchored by stand-up comic-show host, Okey Bakassi followed immediately. Friends, colleagues and family later took turns to pay tributes to the late actor whose role in the popular ‘Andrew no check out’ television commercial brought him to national limelight.
Actors in attendance include – former AGN president Segun Arinze, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Zack Orji, Stephanie Okereke, YAW, Joseph Benjamin, Monalisa Chinda, Halima Abubakar, Rita Dominic, Julius Agwu, Uche Jombo and many others.
Elebuwa, 66, died on December 5, at the Asian Institute of Medical Sciences, India after battling an illness that incapacitated him for more than a year
Having being prominent in the industry for almost four decades, the Ukpane, Delta State born actor was one of the most experienced actors in the country.
His first movie role was in Sanya Dosunmu’s 1974 celluloid film, Dinner with the Devil.
